Umpire Juan Gabriel Castro from the Dominican Republic has been suspended for six years for breaching anti-corruption protocols by manipulating scores during matches. The International Tennis Integrity Agency fined him $6,000 for 12 violations. His suspension concludes on November 6, 2030.
Umpire Juan Gabriel Castro, a nationally-ranked official from the Dominican Republic, faces a six-year suspension following allegations of score manipulation in tennis matches, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced Monday.
The ITIA revealed Castro's suspension comes after he violated 12 protocols under the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP), with infractions involving the falsification of scorecards. Despite the charges, Castro chose not to respond to the ITIA's notice.
Castro has been temporarily suspended since November 7, 2024, with his ban set to conclude on November 6, 2030, and has incurred a $6,000 fine. The case underscores ongoing efforts to uphold integrity within the sport.
