James Johnson, the driving force behind Australia's successful hosting of the 2023 Women's World Cup, has stepped down as CEO of Football Australia, according to a statement from the governing body on Thursday.
Johnson, who previously served with both FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation, was instrumental in steering Football Australia through the tumultuous COVID-19 pandemic period and played a key role in crafting the organization's '15-year Vision' strategy. At 38, Johnson reflected on his tenure, stating it was a 'privilege' but the time felt right for his departure.
