Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri criticized Team India for their failure to secure wickets during the first session on day three of the fourth Manchester Test. Describing the match as 'flat and bleak' for the visitors, Shastri noted England's professional approach as they made significant strides toward India's first innings score.

The hosts ended the session at 332/2, thanks to a robust century partnership between Ollie Pope and Joe Root, putting them within just 26 runs of India's total. At the start of the day, England was at 225/2, with Pope and Root contributing significantly to the score, remaining unbeaten at 70* and 63* respectively by the end of the first session.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Shastri remarked on the favorable batting conditions due to the flat pitch and sunny weather, suggesting that England now has a prime opportunity to bat India out of the match. The Indian bowling attack struggled to make breakthroughs, with missed chances allowing England to capitalize and dominate the play.
