In a significant administrative shuffle, the Haryana government has reappointed 20 officials, including two senior officers within the sports department. This action follows the recent tragic deaths of two youths caused by collapsing iron poles in basketball courts in Rohtak and Bahadurgarh.

Vijay Singh Dahiya, an IAS officer from the 2001 batch, is now the Commissioner and Secretary of the Sports Department, taking over from Navdeep Singh Virk, a 1994-batch IPS officer. Dahiya assumes this role in addition to his current responsibilities. Parth Gupta, previously Deputy Commissioner, is now the Director of Sports and Special Secretary for the Sports Department, and will also serve as Director of Tourism.

The other reassignments include Ravi Prakash Gupta, now Commissioner for Hisar Division. The unfortunate incidents, involving national-level player Hardik Rathi and another teen, have drawn attention to the state's sports infrastructure, raising concerns and prompting administrative change.
