Pat Cummins Gears Up for Ashes Return
Australia's cricket captain Pat Cummins is set to return from injury for the third Ashes Test against England in Adelaide. After missing earlier matches due to a back injury, Cummins feels ready to join the team, with Steve Smith stepping in during his absence.
Australia's cricket captain, Pat Cummins, has announced his readiness to return from injury for the third Ashes Test against England, scheduled to take place in Adelaide. The fast bowler revealed his plans on Saturday, expressing optimism about his physical condition.
Cummins missed both the series opener in Perth and the ongoing day-night match in Brisbane while recuperating from a back injury. Speaking to Fox Sports, Cummins stated, "I'll have one more bowl tomorrow (in the nets) and then we'll head to Adelaide. So barring any hiccups, I'll be good to go. The body feels great."
In Cummins's absence, Steve Smith has taken over leadership responsibilities, with Scott Boland filling in the pace unit spot. With fellow pacer Josh Hazlewood likely out for Adelaide, Cummins's return could see him replace Brendan Doggett or Michael Neser. The selectors, after careful consideration, decided against bringing Cummins back for the second test, deeming it too risky at that stage.
