Georgia's Nika Egadze soared to the pinnacle of the leaderboard at the European Figure Skating Championships, delivering an electrifying short program with two flawless quadruple jumps. The 23-year-old embarked on his performance with a quad Salchow-triple toe loop and subsequently completed a quad toe loop.
Despite a minor glitch where he reached to grab his skate unsuccessfully, Egadze's program was robust enough to earn him 91.28 points, securing the lead heading into the free skate on Saturday. Egadze credits his rigorous training, mentioning, 'I'm so happy for this,' despite having a challenging practice session earlier.
Egadze's success is partly attributed to his coaching team, which includes Eteri Tutberidze, known for coaching top talent like Kamila Valieva. The event in question serves not only as a testament to individual skill but also as a preview for Europe's Olympic hope at the forthcoming Milano Cortina Games.
