Canada had set a challenging target of 173, largely due to the heroics of 19-year-old Yuvraj Samra. Samra's 110 off 65 balls, which included 11 fours and six sixes, was a record-making innings as he became the youngest batter to score a century in T20 World Cup history.

Despite Canada's formidable opening partnership between Samra and skipper Dilpreet Bajwa, which yielded 116 runs, New Zealand's experienced duo made quick work of the chase, reaffirming their team's formidable reputation in the tournament.
