Haiti's Controversial World Cup Kit Sparks Debate

Haiti has been compelled to change its World Cup jerseys due to a design decision initially deemed a political statement by FIFA. The original shirts featured a tableau from the country's fight for independence.

Manufactured by Colombia-based Saeta, the jerseys were meant to celebrate the enduring pride and resilience of the Haitian people. However, FIFA identified certain visual components as potentially politically charged under its equipment guidelines, prompting a request for modifications.

Although the interpretation differed from their intention, Saeta adhered to FIFA's requirements. Queries to FIFA, the Haitian Football Federation, and the team's media officer for further comment went unanswered.
