No country has asked Germany for approval to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine - govt source
Germany has yet to receive a request from any country for permission to re-export German-made Leopard tanks to Ukraine, a German government source said on Thursday.
Western allies, due to meet at Ramstein Air Base in Germany on Friday to discuss further arming Ukraine for its fight against Russian invaders, are ramping up pressure on Berlin for it to allow its tanks to be supplied to Kyiv.
Germany, which must give permission for its tanks to be sent by the countries that now own them, has suggested it will only do so if the United States also sends its own Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
