In a major move to bolster the innovation landscape, the Wadhwani Foundation has inked agreements with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and leading educational institutions, including four IITs, to set up a network of innovation hubs across India.
The collaboration involves institutions such as IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Hyderabad, IISc Bangalore, and C-CAMP to establish Wadhwani Innovation Network Centers of Excellence (WIN-COEs). These centers aim to expedite the commercialisation of academic innovations, transforming research into real-world applications.
Highlighting the limited engagement of higher education institutes in research, the Wadhwani Foundation aims to address this gap by fostering an inclusive ecosystem through these hubs. Ajay Kela, President & CEO of the foundation, emphasized that the focus will be on emerging technologies like advanced AI and quantum computing to create equitable solutions for broader societal impact.
