The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is set to start the consultation process for spectrum allocation for satellite-based telecom services within a month.
According to TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti, India's satellite communications sector is booming and has immense potential to scale new heights. Lahoti made this statement at the 'India SatCom 2024' event organized by Broadband India Forum (BIF).
He stated that the Telecom Act includes provisions for assigning spectrum through administrative processes for certain satellite communications services. The government has officially sought TRAI's recommendations on the terms and conditions for spectrum assignment in this sector.
