Elon Musk Claims 'Massive Cyberattack' Hits X
Elon Musk alleges a 'massive cyberattack' targeted social media platform X, leading to widespread outages affecting thousands of users. Musk suggests significant resources, possibly a large group or nation, orchestrated the attack. Major disruptions were reported across the U.S., affecting both the app and the website.
Elon Musk has reported that the social media platform X was subjected to a 'massive cyberattack,' affecting thousands of users. The disruption, which coincided with multiple outages reported throughout Monday, was described by Musk as potentially orchestrated by a 'large, coordinated group and/or a country.'
Outage tracking service Downdetector.com verified a spike in access issues beginning at 6 a.m. Eastern Time, with peaks again at 10 a.m. More than 40,000 users were unable to access the platform, with the most severe outages reported along the U.S. coasts.
According to Downdetector.com, 56% of the issues were related to the X app, while 33% were associated with the website. The event recalls a March 2023 incident when Twitter, as it was then known, encountered significant technical difficulties for over an hour.
