Nvidia's H200 Chip Set for China Export Greenlight
The U.S. Commerce Department will reportedly allow Nvidia's powerful H200 chip to be exported to China. This follows a previously reversed ban by the Trump administration. Nvidia’s shares rose following the news. The H200 boasts significant improvements over its predecessor, the H100.
Nvidia Corp's advanced semiconductor, the H200 chip, is poised to receive U.S. Commerce Department approval for export to China, according to a report from Semafor.
This development comes amid Nvidia's shares rising 2.2% following the report's release. Requests for confirmation from the U.S. Commerce Department and Nvidia have yet to receive responses.
The H200, introduced two years ago with enhanced memory and processing capabilities, is expected to surpass the performance of existing chips previously cleared for export to China.
