Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, called upon Indian startups to channel their efforts towards manufacturing, deep technology, and securing global leadership roles. Speaking on the 10th anniversary of Startup India at Bharat Mandapam, he emphasized the key role startups play in shaping the nation's economic and technological landscape.
Modi lauded Startup India as a transformative force that has fueled the emergence of India as the world's third-largest startup ecosystem, skyrocketing from fewer than 500 startups in 2014 to over 2 lakh today, including nearly 125 unicorns. He underscored that risk-taking, once discouraged, is now an integral part of the mainstream narrative.
The Prime Minister highlighted government initiatives aimed at boosting artificial intelligence, stressing the competitive edge that comes with AI innovation. Modi encouraged startups to explore new ideas and solve pressing problems, ensuring that India not only participates in but leads global tech revolutions across various sectors, from semiconductors to green hydrogen.
