Google has unveiled a suite of AI-driven features within its Chrome browser specifically designed for users in India, aiming to enhance the overall web surfing experience by making it more intuitive, secure, and assistance-friendly. The company highlighted this move as a milestone in advancing technology use in one of the largest internet markets.
The new features are powered by Google’s Gemini 3.1 model and are set to support over 50 languages, including major Indic languages such as Hindi, Bengali, and Tamil. This initiative begins with rollouts on desktop and iOS, enabling users to interact with a browsing assistant directly from their current tabs when online, facilitating seamless multi-tasking and task efficiency through integrated AI capabilities.
The integration signifies a technological leap as Chrome’s AI can now perform complex tasks like summarizing lengthy articles, creating pop quizzes, and recalling previously visited pages. Furthermore, it allows integration with Gmail for seamless email composition. Charmaine Dsilva, Product Management Director for Chrome at Google, emphasized India's critical role in driving future AI developments within emerging technologies globally.
