HRTC Set to Modernize Fleet with 297 Electric Vehicles, 100 Tempo Travellers, and New Volvo Buses

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri disclosed these updates at a recent board meeting. The corporation aims to improve services and bolster revenue while ensuring timely salaries and pensions for staff.

The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) is set to make significant upgrades by purchasing 297 electric vehicles and replacing 24 old Volvo buses, according to Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri. The announcement came during a Board of Directors meeting on Friday, where discussions also focused on increasing the corporation's revenue.
A process to appoint 357 bus conductors has been completed, ensuring that these new hires will soon be providing services. Additionally, the honorarium for daily wagers will be increased from Rs 375 to Rs 400, Agnihotri stated.
In efforts to enhance commuter comfort, 100 tempo travellers will be introduced on specific routes, and 250 diesel buses will be purchased in the near future. The Deputy CM highlighted the corporation's 50-year milestone of serving 70 lakh people and thanked the state government for its support. HRTC Managing Director Rohan Chand Thakur assured that the corporation's functioning and commuter services would be improved.
