Four individuals lost their lives when a small airplane crashed early Tuesday afternoon in Oklahoma City. The tragic accident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. at Sundance Airport, a minor airstrip on the city's outskirts, according to Oklahoma City Fire Capt. John Chenoweth.
Chenoweth reported that the aircraft was a single-engine airplane. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have been informed of the crash and will be conducting an investigation. An FAA spokesperson disclosed that the agency would provide further comment later on Tuesday, while the NTSB has yet to respond to inquiries.
Efforts to contact the manager of Sundance Airport for additional information have been unsuccessful, as calls to The Associated Press went unreturned.
