EasyJet has been forced to cancel 232 flights out of the 1,138 it had scheduled to operate to and from Portugal due to a three-day strike by its cabin crew, beginning this Thursday. The budget airline announced these cancellations, citing the need to minimize disruption for travelers.
The civil aviation flight personnel union, SNPVAC, attributed the strike to issues such as a lack of roster stability, insufficient staff, and pressure to work overtime for commercial purposes. The airline clarified that the cancellations were a response to these grievances and aimed at reducing travel disruptions.
Despite these cancellations, the Portuguese government mandated minimum services during the strike, ensuring flights to Madeira, Geneva, Luxembourg, and London. EasyJet operates 19 aircraft and employs over 800 staff in Portugal. The company expressed regret over the disruptions, highlighting the strike's impact on their operations.
