Addressing a query from ANI, Trump discussed ongoing global conflicts, citing India-China border tensions and the Ukraine war, underscoring the importance of de-escalation efforts.
Trump remarked, "I think we're going to have a very good relationship with China. I got along with President Xi very well until COVID. That was a bridge too far. But until then, I got along with President Xi very, very well. We were very close, as leaders go." He noted the intensity of India-China border disputes and offered mediation assistance, if required.
Commenting on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Trump highlighted China's potential role in resolution efforts. He emphasized the significance of diplomatic cooperation among global superpowers, stating, "That's been going on for a long time. I would hope that China and India and Russia and the US and all of us can get along. It's very important." Trump also mentioned the large-scale military spending by major powers and questioned the rationale behind it.
He stressed the importance of reallocating military budgets towards constructive purposes, particularly in light of modern weaponry's power, especially nuclear arms. Trump revealed past discussions with President Xi about denuclearization, indicating positive responses. He announced planned meetings with Chinese and Russian leaders to explore military de-escalation, focusing on nuclear issues.
Trump concluded with a commitment to seeking military de-escalation, particularly regarding nuclear capabilities, in upcoming talks with China and Russia. He emphasized, "I'm going to meet with China and I'm going to meet with Russia, and we're going to see if we can de-escalate it, if we can bring it down."
