Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, foreign airlines are strategizing flight paths to avoid Pakistani airspace. This move comes after the Pahalgam terror attack prompted both nations to impose airspace restrictions on each other's carriers.
India has closed its airspace to Pakistani airlines since April 30, while Pakistan reciprocated by barring Indian carriers. Major airlines, including Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic, have announced route adjustments in response to the evolving situation.
Lufthansa has confirmed avoiding Pakistani airspace on multiple routes to Asia, including India, citing elongated flight durations. Meanwhile, Virgin Atlantic is also rerouting its London to Delhi flights and has committed to regularly assessing the security landscape.
