The governments of India and the United States are currently engaged in intensive negotiations over a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), according to details presented to the Indian Parliament on Thursday.
Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, emphasised the discussions are focused on adopting a comprehensive approach to deepen bilateral trade, with a specific focus on reducing both tariff and non-tariff barriers and enhancing market access.
The trade teams are working to maintain positive momentum, aiming towards the quick conclusion of a multi-sector agreement. Recent US tariffs on Indian exports were a key topic at the Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting, reinforcing the need for effective negotiation strategies.
