Aeroflot Grounded: Cyberattacks Disrupt Russian Skies
Aeroflot faced major flight disruptions after a cyberattack by pro-Ukraine hackers, affecting thousands of servers and causing the cancellation and delay of numerous flights. The airline has since stabilized operations but faces scrutiny over cybersecurity vulnerabilities highlighted by the breach.
Russian airline Aeroflot grappled with extensive flight disruptions on Tuesday, as it canceled additional flights following a cyberattack attributed to pro-Ukraine hacking groups.
These groups claimed responsibility for a year-long campaign that compromised Aeroflot's network, disrupting operations by crippling servers and extracting sensitive data.
In total, Aeroflot canceled 59 round-trip flights on Monday and a further 53 flights on Tuesday. The attack, claimed by Belarusian Cyber Partisans and Silent Crow, highlights critical vulnerabilities in Aeroflot's cyber defenses, drawing significant criticism and initiating a high-level investigation.
