On Tuesday, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the necessity of analyzing services sector trade data, which could greatly aid stakeholders in making informed decisions. While inaugurating the Trade Intelligence and Analytics (TIA) Portal, Goyal advocated for leveraging Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) more effectively.

The TIA Portal, developed by the Department of Commerce, is designed to support exporters in maximizing the benefits of FTAs. According to Goyal, the services sector remains largely unexplored, with little comprehensive analysis available. He pointed out opportunities in global markets, like Germany's need for 90,000 workers, which smaller cities are unaware of.

This new portal integrates global and national databases and provides real-time trade insights and analytics for importers, exporters, and MSMEs. In discussing FTAs, Goyal proposed extending duty concessions offered to one country to other FTA partners, promoting competition and benefiting Indian consumers.
