In a decisive move, the Punjab government has launched a 24-hour control room at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport to assist passengers affected by IndiGo's flight disruptions. This initiative, led by Punjab Civil Aviation Secretary Sonali Giri, seeks to mitigate passenger inconvenience amid ongoing cancellations.
The airline has faced significant disruptions over the past five days, though the situation showed signs of improvement with a reduction in cancellations by Sunday. Typically operating 2,300 flights daily, IndiGo managed to operate 1,650 flights on Sunday, up from 1,500 on Saturday.
Designed to provide real-time assistance and updates on refunds, baggage delivery, and flight schedules, the control room is stationed at the duty terminal manager's office.
