India's largest airline, IndiGo, faced a major operational crisis, leading to the cancellation of more than 650 flights. The airline has processed over Rs 610 crore in ticket refunds as it works to stabilize operations by December 10.
Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol acknowledged passengers' distress and assured that accountability measures are being taken. IndiGo's parent company, InterGlobe Aviation, has initiated a Crisis Management Group to oversee the situation.
Despite the disruptions, the civil aviation ministry noted a fast pace of stabilization in air travel operations, with IndiGo's flights increasing significantly over the weekend. A root cause analysis is underway to address crew planning and other operational issues.
