The Maharashtra government on Monday proposed hefty supplementary demands amounting to Rs 75,286.38 crore, with a significant portion aimed at farmer relief, subsidies, and social welfare initiatives.
Presenting the demands on the first day of the legislative assembly's winter session, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar highlighted the strategic allocation of resources to multiple sectors, including agriculture, welfare, and infrastructure development.
Among the key allocations are Rs 15,648 crore for farmers affected by rain and floods, Rs 9,250 crore for electricity subsidies, and substantial funds directed towards various welfare schemes. The move is part of the state's vision to become a five-trillion-dollar economy.
