In a significant move for the Santacruz Electronic Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ), Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced steps aimed at bringing about a major transformation. Lower power tariffs, enhanced governance, and innovative waste-to-wealth initiatives are some of the changes in progress, reflecting aspirations for a modern India.
Minister Goyal urged the industry to adopt systems aligned with future growth, powered by new FTAs and infrastructure modernization. He emphasized the government's role as a partner in this growth trajectory, encouraging industry support to boost a burgeoning economy envisioned to reach USD 30-35 trillion by 2047.
The minister also highlighted transparency-driven guidelines and schemes designed to boost industry growth, with SEEPZ-SEZ set as a national model. Adil Kotwal, President of SEEPZ Gems and Jewellery Manufacturers' Association, noted the strong export growth, marking a significant surge despite global challenges.
