A tragic incident unfolded near the Faridpur toll plaza on the Delhi-Lucknow National Highway, where a driver and a cleaner of a tanker truck were discovered unconscious in their cabin late Thursday night, according to police reports.
The victims, identified as Surendra and Pushpendra from Delhi, were found in a vehicle traveling from Assam to Rudrapur, loaded with methanol. Authorities suspect that the consumption of methanol, possibly mistaken for liquor, led to their sudden deaths.
While bottles with methanol odor were found under the cabin seat, the final cause of death will be confirmed following a post-mortem. An investigation has been launched, involving the tanker's owner based in Delhi.
