Vice President C P Radhakrishnan emphasized the transformative infrastructure developments in the Northeast, contributing to increased economic activities in the region. Speaking at a convocation at Tripura Central University, he commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's persistent efforts to unlock the Northeast's potential.
Radhakrishnan cited enhanced connectivity, including new long-distance train services, as vital to this progress. A landmark initiative is the Matabari tourist circuit project in Gomati, expected to boost tourism and local employment significantly. Visitor numbers at the Maa Tripurasundari temple have already surged, illustrating the economic impact.
Additionally, Radhakrishnan praised Tripura's government for launching the State Innovation Mission under the Atal Innovation Mission, aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. He called on the university to maintain its trajectory of high-quality research and urged students to persevere through failures for eventual success.
