Snow Clears Path: Bhaderwah–Chamba Road Reopens for Tourism Boost

The strategic 140-km Bhaderwah–Chamba interstate road, linking Jammu and Kashmir with Himachal Pradesh, has reopened after a three-month closure due to snowfall. This route is crucial for tourism, with locals hopeful for an economic boost as visitors flock to popular destinations along the road.

The vital Bhaderwah–Chamba interstate road, spanning 140 kilometers, has been reopened after a three-month hiatus following heavy snowfall, authorities have announced. This route connects Jammu and Kashmir to Himachal Pradesh, playing a critical role in regional tourism.

Snow-clearing operations were conducted by the Mechanical Division Doda and the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department, Bhaderwah. While traffic has resumed, restrictions remain in place, prohibiting travel between 6 pm and 6 am beyond the Thanala and Khundi Maral check posts.

Rashid Choudhary, a tourism strategist, highlighted the road's significance in boosting the local economy, while tourist guide Imran Wani noted its potential to attract visitors to scenic spots like Padri and Jai Valley.
