An FIR has been lodged against unknown individuals for allegedly disseminating fraudulent messages masquerading as an e-commerce platform, offering cash rewards, and disrupting operations, police said on Wednesday.
The offenses reportedly occurred between April 23 and April 27. Hiveloop Technology Pvt Ltd, part of the Udaan group, reported the SMS spoofing fraud, prompting a detailed investigation.
The fraudulent messages contained Bitly links, misleading recipients with withdrawal offers, and redirecting them to online betting sites, leading to significant financial losses and a complete breakdown of SMS services for the company.
