Five class 12 students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Theog, located in Shimla district, have been suspended for a period of 15 days due to ragging incidents, school administration officials disclosed on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on the night of July 13, when the seniors allegedly assaulted some class 10 students in the hostel after the juniors refused to wash their clothes. Minor injuries were reported among the junior students.
One of the affected students informed his parent about the incident via phone, leading to further allegations that the seniors had also been extorting money from them. JNV Theog principal, Sanjita Shaunik, intervened to halt the altercation and stated that strict actions will be taken against both the offending students and the warden. Measures will also be put in place to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
