IIT Bombay's Massive Expansion: A Leap Towards Educational Excellence
IIT Bombay plans a major expansion, increasing its built-up area by over 75% to accommodate more students and faculty. IIT Bombay has announced plans to significantly increase its built-up area by over 75%, growing from 9 lakh sq metres to 16 lakh sq metres. This expansion is to cater to the rising number of students and faculty, with the aim to overcome space constraints while preserving ecological balance.
To support advanced research, the institute has acquired state-of-the-art instruments worth Rs 500 crore. Funded by the government's Rs 1,000 crore grant, these resources include tools for high-performance computing and nuclear magnetic resonance, accessible to other institutes at a nominal fee.
In a move to boost student engagement, IIT Bombay plans to implement flipped classrooms, allowing more interactive learning experiences. Strengthening ties with industry and alumni, the institute aims for continued leadership in academia and research while inspiring innovation among students.
