The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has levied a penalty of Rs 3 lakh against IITian's Prashikshan Kendra (IITPK) following accusations of deceptive advertising practices related to students’ success in the IIT-JEE examinations, sources said on Friday.
According to findings, IITPK intentionally misled the public by presenting its internal toppers as national achievers, tarnishing their claims about their students' success rates.
CCPA's actions reflect its commitment to protecting students from misleading advertisements, a concern growing within the educational sector, where aspirants can often be misled by exaggerated claims made by coaching centers.
