Kerala General Education Minister V Sivankutty has emphasized the critical importance of women's safety in today's increasingly digital world. Speaking at a recent event, he pointed out the intensified threats women face, both directly and indirectly, due to the unrestricted discourse facilitated by social media platforms.
The minister called for educational sessions on women's safety tailored for police officers, asserting the need for them to be better equipped when handling complaints by women, particularly those involving male offenders. Sivankutty also laid out his vision for systemic changes in the education sector, aimed at improving overall safety for children.
Highlighting his efforts towards educational reform, the minister revealed plans to incorporate women's safety into the curriculum from class five onwards. He also announced an initiative to award students 10 extra marks for fostering reading habits, underlining the need for vigilant societal participation to accompany legal changes.
