Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes BJP Over SC-ST Reservation Policies

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP amid the controversy surrounding sub-classification and the 'creamy layer' in SC-ST reservations. Yadav accused the BJP of consistently weakening the fight for reservation through ambiguous statements and legal maneuvers.

"The core purpose of any reservation is to empower neglected sections of society, not to divide them," Yadav asserted, responding to a recent Supreme Court ruling allowing sub-classifications within Scheduled Castes. He underscored that centuries of discrimination can't be undone by recent changes.

Yadav contended that reservations are crucial for empowering marginalized groups and warned that BJP's inconsistent stance is eroding trust among backward classes, Dalits, and minorities. He also highlighted the Union Cabinet's stance against 'creamy layer' provisions in SC-ST reservations.
