Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday described the partition of India as one of the most tragic incidents of the 20th century, emphasizing the need for nations to learn from historical events to progress.
Speaking at the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day event in Bhopal, he cited Israel's 2,000-year struggle to regain its homeland as a testament to patriotism. 'The partition of India was one of the most tragic incidents of the previous century, which cannot even be described in words. People don't want to talk about the pain of the partition, but if a country has to grow and move ahead, it has to learn lessons from the bounds of history,' he said.
Yadav compared India's history with Israel, noting that while several generations were lost, Israel eventually achieved independence. He warned against complacency, saying that shrewd tactics by outsiders—like the 12th-century invasion by Prithviraj Chauhan or British divide-and-rule policies—could exploit divisions within India.
