CRPF Receives Highest Number of Gallantry Medals on 78th Independence Day
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been honored with 57 police gallantry medals on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, including five Shaurya Chakras. These awards recognize valiant actions during operations in Jammu and Kashmir as well as anti-Maoist operations in Left Wing Extremism affected states.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been awarded the highest number of police gallantry medals on the 78th Independence Day, securing 57 honors including five Shaurya Chakras.
The Union Home Ministry disclosed the list of awardees on Wednesday, marking a significant recognition for the CRPF's bravery in diverse operations.
A senior CRPF officer stated that 25 of these medals were awarded for action during operations in Jammu and Kashmir, with 32 for anti-Maoist operations in Left Wing Extremism affected states.
Among the honored is Sub-Inspector Raushan Kumar, who received the bravery medal posthumously for his gallant action against Maoists in Bihar in February 2019.
Assistant Commandant Teja Ram Choudhary was awarded two gallantry medals this time for his courage in different operations against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Shaurya Chakra recipients include posthumous honors for Constable Pawan Kumar and Constable Devan C, alongside Deputy Commandant Lakhveer, Assistant Commandant Rajesh Panchal, and Constable Malkit Singh.
Jammu and Kashmir Police received the second-highest number of bravery medals, with 31 honors, while Uttar Pradesh Police and Maharashtra Police each won 17 medals.
The CRPF, country's largest paramilitary force with about 3.25 lakh personnel, primarily conducts operations in Jammu and Kashmir, northeastern states, and Maoist-violence affected regions, besides guarding numerous high-risk VIPs.
