The Centre's latest cleanliness campaign, launched Wednesday, aims to convert waste into wealth and solidify cleanliness as a public norm, according to Union minister Jitendra Singh.
Addressing the event, Singh praised the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) for its success in previous campaigns, resulting in Rs 1162.49 crore in revenue from e-waste disposal, freeing up 355.6 lakh sq ft of office space, and weeding out 96.1 lakh files.
Singh also commended the Ministry of Earth Sciences for its efforts in cleaning 96 beaches, showcasing the government's commitment to clean public spaces. The 'Special Campaign 4.0' under the 'Swachhata Hi Sewa' programme reflects a deep commitment to public hygiene and has evolved from a government directive into a behavioral revolution, he noted.
