Booger-Gate: Resolute Desk Removed for Refurbishment Amid Controversy

The iconic Resolute Desk, a mainstay of the Oval Office, has been temporarily removed for refurbishment after an incident involving Elon Musk's son, media outlets report. The child's actions, witnessed during a live television event alongside President Donald Trump, necessitated the desk's removal.

The temporary replacement is the historic C&O Desk, previously used by former President George H W Bush. Crafted from walnut with distinctive golden handles, this desk is known for its connection to the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. President Trump, who has a noted aversion to germs, is overseeing the transition.

The Resolute Desk, gifted by Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880, is famed for its origin story involving the HMS Resolute. Despite its storied past, only a few presidents have opted not to use it, including Lyndon B Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Gerald Ford.
