On Monday, China countered the Dalai Lama's allegations that it aims to eliminate Tibetan culture, asserting that the region is flourishing. ''The 14th Dalai Lama is not merely a religious figure, but a political exile involved in anti-China separatist activities masked as religious initiatives,'' stated Mao Ning, spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry during a media briefing.
China maintains a consistently clear stance on Tibetan matters, as Mao articulates. ''Regardless of the Dalai Lama's pronouncements or actions, they cannot alter the undeniable reality of Xizang's growth and success. We urge related entities not to provide a forum for discussions on China's division,'' she emphasized.
A HarperCollins briefing accompanying the release of the Dalai Lama's new book, 'Voice for the Voiceless,' depicts his personal, spiritual, and historical reflections. Approaching his 90th year, he narrates his 75-year struggle with China over Tibet's autonomy and preservation.
