Assam's Tourism Boom: 2.43 Crore Visitors in Four Years
Assam welcomed over 2.43 crore tourists in the past four years, including 60,306 foreigners, as announced by Tourism Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass. The highest footfall was in 2022-23. Initiatives to boost tourism include infrastructure, publicity, and river cruises, with new projects on the Brahmaputra river underway.

Assam has become a thriving tourist destination, recording over 2.43 crore visitors in the last four years, as revealed by Tourism Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass during an assembly session on Tuesday.
The minister highlighted that the most significant influx occurred in the year 2022-23, with nearly 98.31 lakh tourists visiting the state, followed by 70.67 lakh in 2023-24. He further noted that 60,306 foreign tourists chose to explore Assam during this period.
To bolster the tourism sector, Dass outlined plans for infrastructure enhancement, promotional efforts, and skill development. Additionally, river tourism is a focal point, with projects like the 'Jalporee' and 'Mahabahu' luxury cruises already in place and further expansions planned with a new management body, 'Brahmaputra Sagarmala Mandir Darshanam SPV Pvt Ltd.'
