Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced on Thursday the successful conclusion of this year's Thrissur Pooram, a significant temple festival, without any issues, attributing the event's smooth execution to the efforts of district administration, police, and other authorities.
Held on May 6 at the historic Vadakkunnathan Temple grounds in Thrissur, the festival is not only a religious event but also a showcase of Kerala's cultural heritage, gaining fame beyond state boundaries.
Preparations, which began months in advance, included deploying 4,000 police for safety and security, installing CCTV cameras, and coordinating various departments to ensure effective waste management, compliance with existing laws on fireworks and elephant parades, and issuing joint inspections by police and the Excise Department to prevent drug spread.
