Legoland Shanghai: A Brick-by-Brick Marvel
Legoland Shanghai, opening on July 5, is the world's largest Legoland and first in China. It features a miniature Shanghai waterfront and skyscrapers, built with over 20 million Lego bricks. Despite economic challenges, the park is betting on strong domestic travel. Tickets range from 319 to 599 yuan.
As Legoland Shanghai prepares to officially open on July 5, one of its star attractions will undoubtedly be the detailed miniature replica of the Shanghai waterfront and the towering skyscrapers of the Lujiazui financial district, all constructed from colorful Lego bricks.
Set to be the world's largest Legoland, and China's first, the Shanghai resort boasts eight themed sections including the popular Ninjago, Lego Friends, and Monkie Kid lands, captivating Lego enthusiasts with scale models and larger-than-life attractions, albeit not to everyone's expected dimensions. "I thought it would be huge, but it turned out to be half of the scale I dreamed," commented seven-year-old Lyu Xiaole, who experienced the park before its official opening.
Despite recent economic hurdles like a prolonged property slump and high youth unemployment, Legoland Shanghai is optimistic about domestic travel and experience spending. The park, a collaborative venture between Merlin Entertainments and the Shanghai Jinshan District government, expects strong visitor turnout, with tickets priced from 319 to 599 yuan.
