The annual Amarnath Yatra has been put on hold until August 3, prioritizing the safety of pilgrims amid adverse weather conditions. Official sources confirmed the urgent repair and maintenance works along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes following heavy rains.

Initial plans allowed for the pilgrimage to proceed from the Baltal route; however, persistent rainfall prompted further suspension, halting all movements from the Bagwati Nagar base camp as well. Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Bidhuri emphasized that no pilgrim would be allowed on the Baltal route on August 3.

Maintenance work remains critical after torrential rains in Kashmir rendered paths unsafe, affecting religious activities since July. Over 4.05 lakh pilgrims visited the Holy Cave shrine this year, despite the weather-driven challenges.
