Residents of Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, are vehemently opposing the planned Vaishno Devi ropeway, valued at Rs 250 crore, alleging it threatens the livelihood of over 60,000 families.
The locals, including youth and various community groups, staged a protest on Tuesday, holding banners and pictures of Mata Vaishno Devi, demanding an end to the project.
Despite previous promises for local consultations by authorities, protesters claim they've been ignored, fueling their resolve to engage in hunger strikes until their demands are met.
