The Rajasthan government's attempt to have schools observe December 6 as 'Shaurya Diwas' has sparked a significant controversy. The date marks the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, a sensitive issue that drew criticism from opposition and Muslim organizations.
Originally announced through an official WhatsApp group, the directive was revoked on Sunday, with authorities citing 'unavoidable circumstances' for the retraction. Sitaram Jat, Director of the Board of Secondary Education, asserted that no formal instructions were dispatched to educational institutions.
The contested order from the Secondary Education Directorate in Bikaner proposed a series of patriotism enhancing activities in both government and private schools, including cultural programs, essay competitions, and exhibitions focused on Indian warriors and the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
