The Indian government is embarking on a redesign of the Prasad scheme, aimed at reinvigorating pilgrim tourism across the states, as informed by the Lok Sabha on Monday.

Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat revealed that a total of 54 projects have received approval under the scheme over the past decade, highlighting the initiative's scope and reach.

With the current financial cycle nearing its conclusion, the ministry is updating the scheme, which started in 2014-15 for developing pilgrim sites based on state government proposals, enhancing tourism infrastructure, and enriching the experience for pilgrims.
