In a statement, the palace revealed that a series of tests conducted this autumn highlighted a considerable downturn in Princess Mette-Marit's health. The timing for when she will join the transplant waiting list remains undecided, they said.

Professor Are Martin Holm of the Oslo University Hospital's pulmonary unit expressed that the situation is approaching a point where a lung transplant will become essential. Preparations are underway to ensure readiness for when this medical intervention becomes necessary.
