The BJP government is preparing for a 10-day padayatra to protest against the alleged scams of the Siddaramaiah government, slated to start on July 31.
Karnataka Deputy Minister DK Shivkumar accused the BJP of attempting to tarnish Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's reputation by planning a padayatra to highlight the Mysore Urban Development Authority's (MUDA) irregularities. Speaking at a press conference at the KPCC office, Shivkumar asserted, "The Congress introduced padayatras in India. Now, the BJP is planning a padayatra from Bengaluru to Mysuru to bring disrespect to CM Siddaramaiah and destabilize the Congress government."
Shivkumar further criticized the BJP for being involved in numerous scams themselves, arguing that the Karnataka Congress-led government is facing constant attempts to be undermined. He emphasized that the Chief Minister's family had not requested specific sites but accepted what MUDA allotted during the previous government. Shivkumar also revealed plans to expose one scam per day during the BJP-JDS padayatra.
The Deputy Minister challenged BJP figures Kumaraswamy, Yediyurappa, Jagadish Shettar, Basavaraj Bommai, and R Ashok to a public debate regarding scams from their tenure. He maintained that the allegations against CM Siddaramaiah's family adhered to legal frameworks, dismissing BJP's planned protests as tactics to destabilize the current government.
